I have learned that when traveling internationally, it is cheaper leaving from DC airports than BWI (depending on where you are traveling too). Also, leaving from airports north (New Jersey, NY) are cheaper depending on the destination. You can save hundreds of dollars and can save by driving to those airports.

 Finding discounted flights takes time. You have to play with the dates and find which days are cheaper than others. You can also alter the departing location just to see if there is a difference.
